"Head & Heart Conversations"

Collaboration. What better way to enhance a project than pooling ideas and thoughts with those who share similar values?   Working collaboratively with Clare Luther, author and founder of Head 2 Heart Books, was a natural fit. Her books aim to help children overcome the struggles that are part of everyday life, by encouraging them to talk about their emotions. Enabling families to have meaningful and supportive conversations, about big emotions, is at the centre of this ‘Head & Heart Collaboration’.

Throughout the pandemic we have seen numerous examples of the ways in which parents and children have had to adapt to ‘emergency education’ and the endless changes flung at them. It is no surprise to now find that a common theme, when speaking to parents, has been their need for support.  Parents have also told us that missing out on interaction with peers at school, is impacting on preparations for the next stage in their child’s educational journey. As parents, they felt their children were anxious, worried and simply not ready for more change.

Our online, collaborative workshops, therefore, aim to help parents find ways to support their children with these changes and new experiences.  We will provide you with the tools and conversation starters to help your children gain a better understanding of the emotions around their reactions to change, as well as providing ways to support and promote positive mental health and resilience in your family.

Between the ages of 3-7 yrs. children experience sensitive periods in brain development, we know that when building resilience, early intervention is key to facilitating deeper and longer lasting change.  At The Parent Collaborative, we work alongside parents to enable you to support your children’s emotional development because in order to thrive, children need to be able to self-regulate and manage their stress responses. The Head 2 Heart Books are the perfect resource, using familiar characters to help children understand and handle a range of emotions and challenging situations. All Clare’s scripts are researched and crafted alongside teachers, psychologists (clinical and educational), parents and children themselves to ensure each story is relatable.

Collaborating on this hugely important facet of child development has been truly enriching for us – we are excited to share our collaboration with you, as parents.
